The PKF Tasmanian Tigers scored a thrilling two-run win against the RTA SpeedBlitz Blues last night to launch into top spot on the table with two matches to go.

The Tigers batted first and lost wickets early as young NSW debutant Patrick Cummins made a name for himself taking out the Tigers openers.

Tasmanian big hitter Travis Birt and captain George Bailey steadied the ship for the visitors with a 54-run partnership with Birt making 47 off 36 balls and Bailey 27 off 20 balls.

Dutch import Ryan Ten Doeschate also chipped in with a nice cameo of 25 off 19 balls to guide Tasmania to modest total of 6-152.

The Blues reply started in impressive fashion with David Warner (38 off 31 balls) and Usman Khawaja (33 off 28 balls) blasting 69 runs off eight overs before Jason Krejza struck and dismissed Warner.

Warner's dismissal prompted a top order collapse for the Blues, losing 4-9, with Rana Naved dynamic, dismissing Khawaja and Nevill in consecutive deliveries.

The Blues innings was salvaged by Ben Rohrer who worked his way to 47 not out and Moises Henriques who made a handy 19 to take the match down to the final over where the Blues needed 18 to steal a win.

Tigers paceman Naved had the task of bowling the tense final over and despite Rohner getting his side to requiring a boundary off the final ball, Naved held his nerve with his final delivery and the Blues fell two runs short.
